Since the site's official opening in July 2002, membership has rapidly expanded to over 8,000 members and continues to grow at a rate of over 250 new members each month. On a typical day, the site receives 2,000 plus visits displaying over a quarter of a million pages per month. Visitors often return several times throughout the day to monitor the Forum and other constantly changing information.
The site has now expanded outside the realms of the Internet by holding UK's largest First Aid Conference and Exhibition; “First Aid Forward”. This has now become a biannual event.
Through the membership of the First Aid Cafe the formation of The Association of First Aiders ( www.AoFA.org ) was realised. The AoFA, now in its second year has developed in to UK 's largest first aid association.
In addition to our active Forum, there are sections for Humour,
On-Line Live Talk, Reference Sections and Directories. The directories
section includes the UK’s First Aid Training Providers Directory
holding over 1800 companies, a Trainer/Assessor Directory and a
recently introduced Event-Cover Directory
The First Aid Cafe members cover a wide range of occupations. Approximately
60% are trainers with the remainder covering First Aiders, Appointed
Persons, Occupational Health staff, and other interested parties.
These represent a broad spectrum of industries, including well know
companies such as Ford, Tesco, BAE, Kellogg, Police, HMS Forces to name
just a few. The First Aid Cafe is growing rapidly and progressing
into new, exciting areas. Its extensive and increasing membership
is certain to have a substantial influence over the shape of first
aid in the future.
The First Aid Cafe has also become the highest rated web site on nearly all search engines for a wide range of search terms including 'first aid training' and 'first aid' which is quite and achievement considering there are over 221 million other sites trying to get to the top position!
