I am employed by a local college to do the FAW training. I have just phoned up to see how many are attending and was informed 15. I think this is against guidelines for class size, but cannot lay my hands on anything to back this up at the moment. Can anyone direct me to something that will state in black and white the guidelines for one tutor. Thanks

From the HSE Guide, “A guide to gaining and maintaining HSE approval” HSE recommends that you should allocate no more than 12 students to a trainer. This can be found in the ‘Reference Point’ section of this web site Hope this helps - Admin Dave

I also think that you will find a recommendation of 1:6 for the more practical subjects e.g. resuscitation, recovery position and bandaging. I personally would not attempt to try to watch more than 2 people doing resus at the same time.
