"Simple, Danger response Airway, breathing, circulation, disabilities, evacuation Get a Cup of Coffee" Agreed. Just apply this to whatever you find when you get there. Just hope the bus is stopped next to a coffee shop! Mind you, when I am working, I often have a flask so hopefully if no coffee shop I can still fulfill the final action.

Absolutely agree with the above, except i wouldn't try to spell "mathodical srquencia" and we are presuming somebody has been knocked over and requires assistance and there isn't already someone on scene and dealing and we knew for a fact that we could definitely get a latte and a doughnut should the need arise and it wasn't raining?

Its the same routine no matter where you are or what you are dealing with.
You deal in a mathodical srquencial order and complete the task before moving to the next.
most important is to get a cup of coffee and chill out afterwards
You have a bucket of what he's having then continue on your way unless you have a particular interest in people looking at tarmacadam?

A picture/diagram of the scene would be helpful to answer more precisely... Is the car with the hazards on containing a casualty??? Perhaps ask the bus driver to move his/her big vehicle to fend off any traffic and offer a degree of protection. Ask the bus driver for the first aid kit (I seem to believe that public service vehicles have to carry one). Safely approach the scene. Deal with any further dangers (enlisting the help of bystanders if necessary and safe to do so). Access and assess any casualties (I am again assuming that the car contains one) - Response, Airway, Breathing, Bleeding, Broken Bones etc.....

Check I am safe,
Check the scene is safe
Identify number of casualties
See the ones that are not screaming first.
Get a big yellow van with blue lights on the way if needed
Do as little as posisble to maintain life, prevent deteriation of casualty
Hand over to crew of said big yellow van with blue lights on

Red, definitely red, or maybe green, but definitely red or green Could it be that a baby owl has fallen from it's nest, the crowd have gathered because it is so cute and the drivers have stopped for fear of running over the baby owl and the crowd turning on them? So you fashion a large dressing to swaddle the baby owl, make a hole in your resusi aid and start to call mummy owl with a "hooting" sound? blazing_air2009-06-10 21:42:00

just watch out you don't get mobbed by the Springwatch camera team trying to film the daring rescue attempt from 15 different angles and somehow work in baby foxes (who will probably try and eat the owl as soon as its off camera)

CriticareUK are the car hazard lights on, or off, or on, or off, or on, or off? Hard to know if they are working alright when they keep going on and off and on and off and on and off

Good approach, always useful, and totally correct. Can you be a bit more specific?

The incident is approximately 100 yards from a coffee shop, which is expensive.
However, it is less than 600 yards to the nearest Starbucks or Costa Coffee.

The car has a driver, but no passenger.
You safely approach the scene, crossing the road with care, and go to the car with its hazards on. There is only a driver in the car, who is not visibly injured or displaying signs of injury - although he does come across as being shocked by the events.
You ask the bus driver, but he refuses to reverse his vehicle into a fend position, because he would have to block two lanes to do so, and cars may wrongly assume that they can use the lane for oncoming traffic. He provides you with his first aid kit, however he decides that it is best for him to continue his journey, and leaves you with his vehicle and employee number.
You ask two lads to go round the corner of the road, and force all traffic into the outside lane, and another lad to keep the traffic away from you as it gets nearer. A female is already on the phone to the ambulance service. Realising that you have a walk-in centre near you, a female is sent running over to ask for assistance.
There is a male lying on the ground: R - Voice A - Clear B - Fast, Shallow B - Nothing apparent on initial examination BB - pain to left leg (impact site) at femur, ?injury

You are safe.
The scene is safe (see last message).
2 casualties.
You see the one on the floor first.
Female already making call - you ask her to stay on the line so that you can pass on an initial assessment.
You are doing so...
I'll wait a bit, and people can figure out what it is we'll be passing on!
