I've looked at previous posts but I can't find the answer to this so.... I'm fine about having 1 assessor for 6 or less people but what if you have more than 12?

The new guidelines say "Two suitably qualified assessors (see paragraph 7), who have not been involved in the training, should conduct the assessment. However, it is acceptable to use one assessor where the number of students on a course is no greater than six."

Does this mean you then need to increase your assssors pro rata? eg...

0-6 = 1 assessor

7-12 = 2 assessors

13-18 = 3 assessors

19-24 = 4 assessors

Will I/we be expected to assess 24 people in an afternoon?

It is 12 students to 1 trainer but I'm talking about those times when we have classes bigger than 12 and so have additional trainers.

I regularly assess 'double' classes up to 24. Right now we use 4 assessors (so I only assess 12) but they are talking about only having 2 cause they say don't need to have 4 under the new guidelines!

the trainer ratio is 1 trainer to 12 candidates

the assessor ratio is 1 assessor per 6 candidates, so basically everytime you increase your candidates over these threasholds, you need to increase the trainers and assessors appropriately

if you assess 24 candidates, then its 4 assessors and should be a minimum of 2 trainers

All good fun lol

Hi all

Are these ratios for the 3 day or the 1 day. If they are for the 3 day what are the ratios for the 1 day EFAW. Trainer to candidates. Assessor to candidates.

EFAW needs a trainer/assessor person.  Ratio 1:12.  So for up to 12 candidates, you need one person who trains and assesses the candidates as you go along.

As far as I can see there is no mention of increasing the number of assessors for courses over 12 students. The one assessor for six students was brought in for small courses. No mention of increasing assessors in the Regulations or am I missing something?

Hello, i read your post with interest... I too thought the same as yourself... However, I (if I am lucky to have classes soon) will only take a class of maximum of 12 so that I can cover the assessor ratio.  Otherwise a follow-on Course would be an advantage...??/  What do you think?  Big%20smile
