Reminds me of one cold November, about 20 years ago, Rememberance Sunday. The Parade was marching past the Town Band, prior to being halted and dismissed to file into the large hall where the service was to be held.
Just as the St John Ambulance and British Red Cross contingents paralelled the band, the big bass drum player suffered a massive heart attack, fell over backwards with the drum still on his chest.
Imagine the scene, suddenly all the volunteer first aiders broke ranks and ran to his aid. Serious panic broke out as no one was able to get the drum off his chest, suddenly two St John memebers appeared with a 'furley stretcher' quite what they were going to do with it no one knew but it kept them occupied. Eventually the drum was removed and an argument developed about 'who was best' to do what. Someone phoned 999 (and got the engaged signal!) and lots of self appointed 'advisors' all gave their different advice. CPR was attempted eventually, but by then, far too late - though unlikely that it would have made any difference anyway. Everyone else just looked on, bemused, but at least the poor man died doing what he obviously enjoyed doing.
This is a true story, I was one of those headless chickens!
Looking back, it was like a scene from a carry on film - I reckon something similar would happen at the conference Dave - moral - BE CAREFUL AT THE NEXT ONE and don't go if you feel anything less than 100%!
