Has anyone been approached by e medical online?
Please forgive me if I have totally got this one wrong........ but 2 days ago I was approached by them out of the blue, they wanted to include me on their website as a small business who would provide a first aid training service to the GP practices within my county (200 apparently) they sounded very genuine and knowledgeable about the GP's funding their own training etc. I knew there had to be a catch and it came when they said it would cost me £250, they failed to mention the VAT.... £300 was written on the invoice.
They quickly copied some of the text from my web page to include on their own, job done, £300 please Kev.

I decided to check out 3 companies that were advertised on their website to see if they had indeed volunteered to bo included, or was this actually a scam or what. Of the 3 companies contacted, 1 was a wrong number, 2 had indeed paid the money to advertise, they had been on their webpage for over 1 year and neither had received a single phone call from the GP's, NHS or anyone for some work, and both companies felt terribly let down and were refusing to renew their subscription as it is an annual fee.

I feel as if it is a scam (my personal opinion) so have refused to pay and have asked to be withdrawn from their webpage. I have only posted this to see if anyone else is of the same opinion, or have I totally got it wrong. Has anyone or company actually made any money from their advert?

Sadly Kev you have been scammed

i had a call about this a while ago- 2/3 weeks

when I said why would I pay £300 to reach GPs when I can write to them direct, the chappie got quite snotty, told me I was being stupid and that GPs would only work with trainers that are authorised on this site and do we really want to pass by all this work

I asked him to tell me how much work had been put through the site- he put the phone down on me!

I asked a friend who is a partner in a local GP practice- she as Dr has never heard of them!

Was thanked: 1 time(s) in 1 post(s)
Had a call on Tuesday from a similar company (might have even been the same one). Was in a bit of a rush, as just on my way out to a job. All "Hail fellow, well met", asking me how I was etc. I said "Well who are you? I don't believe I know you?" He started being a bit snotty (to borrow Calvin's expression) then asked who he was calling! I said you are calling me - if you don't know who you are even calling, why all the false bonhomie?  This must be a sales call.

He complained I was being rude to him and slammed the phone down!

Fortunately, I twigged before the invoice arrived, so I suppose I was one of the lucky few not to have paid the scammers. Is there not a law against this type of thing???? I can't understand in this day and age how people can get away with this, I think I am just too niave....

Cheers for the comments, it made me feel better anyway.

I had one of these ring me ages ago, a few times, purporting to have my details form AoFA.  He promised me riches if I signed up.  All I said was ..'funny, I'm an approved provider any way for my local LHB (Welsh equiv. of PCT, & am not an approved provider) & I know my local practices can access free training via the LHB, who give me the work (NOT), so why would I pay you..Also, I know AoFA don't give out trainer details for this purpose, so why, & on who's authority from AoFA, are you ringing me???'

Funnily enough, he hung up!!

All a bit like yellow pages offering you riches if you buy a bigger ad...rarely works, word of mouth & your own marketing works far better (in my experience)!!
