Hello all wise and experienced first aid trainers,

I am going to be doing my first aid trainer training through NUCO in July. I am primarily doing this as I work in a School as a nurse and want to be able to provide all their first aid training.

I gather that NUCO are an umbrella company so I can deliver courses and supply certification through them for my school and I guess I can do the same were I to provide courses to the wider general public.

Has anyone used/ do you use NUCO? Their website doesn't provide too much information on what happens post-qualification and I'd like to get an idea of what steps I need to take after my course ends.

What kind of questions do I need to be asking whilst I'm on the course? What vital information do I need?

Also once I've got my qualification what companies employ freelancers to provide their courses? I'm not planning on providing courses for the general public yet as I want to concentrate on the school but I might be looking to supplement my income in about 6 months to a year and I'd ideally like to get all the information now.

Thanks a lot!

Hi there,

I may be able to help you, I am new to this forum so if I dont give full information I do apologise for this.

I have used NUCO to train two of my trainers.  They thouroughly enjoyed the course and explain everything you need to know to train others.

Once you have passed you can log in to the instructor section and register your courses.  You can make these open to the public too.  So anyone who looks on the NUCO site for a course will see yours.  You have the option to make this visiable or invisiable.  They send you course material too which is completely free.  All you have to pay for once the course is over is the certificates for the people who have passed.

Also NUCO are very informative if you call them.

Freelance trainers can be employed anywhere, dependant on what you can teach.  Have a look at the job sites and see what they offer.  You can work for other training companies on a freelance basis which is quite popular at the moment.

Just thought I would add this bit in to be cheeky but if you are in the St Neots, cambridgeshire area and need a venue for your training we offer our rooms out for hire.  We are trying to help out new training companies and existing companies.

Hope this has helped a little bit

I'd just like to add that NUCO have just proved to me that they are considerably more than just 'reliable'.

I have just had a voicemail left on my phone by them making sure that I have had all my questions answered sufficiently from my original post and telling me that it is no problem for me to contact them with any further queries.

I'm really impressed with them - can't wait to start the course!

Hi there I don't know if you have paid for the course already but if not before you do have a look at Trident Medical they are very good value for money they also provide umbrella cover for you to teach HSE courses FAW and EFAW at no extra cost or annual fee each course that you register through them there is a small registration fee which includes candidate registration, first aid manual and certificate. With Trident it is not just course its the after course help and support it all just a call or email away!

There we go, not all Awarding Organisations are big, impersonal, money grabbing satanists just after a quick buck.  Some go the extra mile to help their trainers.

PS I'm nothing to do with NUCO.
