Hi,

I have been asked to organise the first aid cover for a charity bike ride all day in Dorset on Sunday 1st July 2012 and we need another first aider who will be tasked to cover a specific section of the ride (probably the first section of the ride starting from Corfe Mullen (near Wimborne) but this can be changed if another sector is more convenient. - The duty will involve following the ride in one of the course radio cars with a member of RAYNET and respond to any requests for assistance in your sector. You will be required to provide your own kit and hi-viz. The fee is £75 for the day which I can pay in advance if required. If you are interested please let me know asap. I would like to offer this duty to visitors to this site/AOFA members before asking others but will need some time to arrange cover if here are no takers here.

Many thanks.

The event is from 0800 until 1600 although first aid/RAYNET covering the north/west parts of the course (as far west as Blandford) may start a bit later. We do a sweep as we close each sector or the course which can add a bit of time at the last stage but I can do this myself.

As far as kit is concerned. this is an extremely well marshalled event with a historic very very low casualty count (<5)- most injuries being abrasions or riders becoming "saddle sore". Most riders who need assistance tend to stop at one of the refreshment stops and ask for assistance there. The kit woud be the same as you would take for any other road cycling event.  It is very much a family event rathr than a "race".
