Hi all,

Looking for abit of advice and a "what would you do" here.

I have been informed that a company who I was previously employed by has started to deliver HSE approved courses. Nothing wrong with that I hear you cry.

The problem is that they dont have any approval status of there own, but what I do know is that they are using my approval number and running courses under their own banner saying the courses are approved by the HSE and all above board.

The reason I know this to be the case is one of the paramedics who works for him is a good mate of mine and has told me dates and times that they have been happening, I have also carried out an assessment for them. I have never stated at any time that they could use my approval number under any circumstances.

What should my next steps be?

Do I contact the HSE and let them know whats going on?

Do I contact the police as it is fraud?

Do I contact the company thay have supplied 3 courses for? ( a big football club in Glasgow)

All help would be greatfully received.

i'd:

contact the company and tell them to stop

contact the clients and tell them their courses aren't valid

(if you have confirmation of the certsbeing issued with your number)

Give them the benefit of the doubt, that they may not understand how approval works and give them a chance to stop using it but if not and that number is definitely registered to you and not that company, I would contact FAAMS.

Or local Trading Standards if the direct approach doesnt work, or turn up at the training session

Thanks: 1 times
If you are insured with us, then you will have 24hr Legal Advice line. Might be worth giving them a call.

Are you sure that they are not under somebody else’s HSE approval. If you can find out who their client is, AND you are sure of your facts then give them a call. I’m sure they would be grateful and even use you for their training. Turn this to your benefit!

We have had a similar problem in the past, but we were contacted by the end customer enquiring as to their validity of their certificates. Needless to say, there were not very happy with the trainer, they contacted Training Standards.
