Dear colleagues,

I wanted to introduce to you a new medical app, which is available in the iTunes store across the globe - http://itunes.apple.com/...trainer/id502388483?mt=8

The app is called AED Trainer and is available for the iPad tablet - http://ivormedical.com/products/aed-trainer-app/

The app turns the iPad into a simulator of automatic external defibrillator (AED) with all the features of live AEDs. Together with scenario builder and custom training pads it makes a perfect cost saving solution for training both laypersons and healthcare professionals.

You can check the demo video here - http://youtu.be/J2VUcz6-SYo

This is (on the face of it) excellent. Downloaded the iPad and iPhone versions. Definitely recommend

Thank you for this information.

I have not seen anything like this before that is so realistic and so helpful.

I showed this to one of our trainers who thought it was fantastic.  We occasionally do AED Training and getting the machines can be tricky but this would save all that hassle and is so much better as its all interactive.  If you find anything else like this let us know as this is deffinately invaluable information.

Also it will give me an excuse to try and ask for an IPAD.

I used the iPad version yesterday on the CPR element of an EFAW and taped a spare set of pads to the back of the iPad. It worked a treat, one or 2 of the delegates actually didn't realise it was an iPad and thought it was a real AED trainer!

I can imagine the manufacturers of AED trainers will be a bit miffed, I've just saved £300

Thank you all for such positive comments. It really makes us all extremely happy for all the hard work we put in.
Since we are all medical professional we are just delighted to hear that you find it useful for training and that you have already tried it!

We have to cool announcements that I am sure you are going to like.

We will be ready in about a week to start shipping custom AED training pads for the iPad.
They will have the dock connector, so you can plug them in the device.
The expected price should be about 20 USD plus shipping.

We are also working on a new iPhone application, which will work as a remote control for the iPad AED trainer allowing the instructor to simulate low battery, poor pads connection, skip to analysis once the student has place pads correctly on the manikin, and change scenarios on the fly. This app should be available during first weeks of May.

Please follow our page to keep update - www.ivormedical.com

This is a very good application, very well done. You may well have made the AED trainer redundant if you can produce Apps which replicate each of the main AED's (FR2/Zoll etc), copyright permitting of course.

Well done

Edit - You will find that the iPhone and iPad will not connect via bluetooth other than over a wireless network. Stupid I know but the only pieces of IT the phone will connect with is an ear piece, keyboard or TomTom. Apparently a deliberate marketing ploy by Apple

The AED trainer app for the iPad is now supplemented with two things:

1. custom training pads, which plugin directly in the iPad's dock connector

2. iPhone remote control app, which allow the instructor to control the AED trainer wirelessly and in real time
