I've done 2 Pschyometric test as my previous job. Basically, you have to answer dozens of multiple choice questions within a given time - so you only literally spend a few seconds on each question. The test paper is like a Lottery form - its read into a computer which analysis the results and ascertain what sort of person you are.
The questions are not work specific nor are they about a specific subject. However, there many questions which are very similar, but these are randomly placed. If you are a very good speed reader and can retain the info then spend a few minutes reading through the questions - one of my old line managers told me about this and he was very good at speed reading.
Both of my Pschyometric tests said that I was a very resourceful peson but lacked strong managerial skills! Another old Manager came out as beng with very strong leadership qualities but somewhat cruel! (Old git he was too!)
Basically, I think its these Americanism personnel procedures creeping in everywhere - what a load of bollards. If your boss needs a computer to show what type of person you are, then the boss is not fit to boss - that my opinion.
