Welcome to the forum Steven. When you say what is involved in an assessment do you mean as an assessor or a candidate?

What i am looking for is what sort of information does the candidate receive before going into a scenario? Do they receive the full incident details or just like a key phrase?

I know that there are three different scenarios where there is one for CPR, Unconscious and breathing and an incident management one.

Steven,

It depends on the assessor.  Personally I keep it very simple, I introduce myself to the candidate explain that I will be their errand boy if required and tell them to treat what they find.

Hope that helps

Hi Steven,

I find that it can vary - if an initial course its kept simple as Tacanman indicated.

If it is advanced or very experienced First Aiders, some assessors may give more info relative to the type of casualty likely to be treated.

Remember the assessment is to ensure that the First Aider is capable of undertaking whatever their workplace may present them with, for most it will be simple.
