My turn to ask for help

I'm having a difference of opinion with CQC. I am sure that in the run-up to this (remember I am talking as far back as late 2009/early 2010) it was published that if we started our application before 31-3-11 we would get our first year free. However their finance section say this is not true, only that we would not  be charged a fee for actually registering.

I know that some other "early birds" got a bill, but can anyone else refresh my grey cells (Yes, you are right, I am trying to avoid trolling through the thousands of pages of documentation given out at the various meetings and stuff we had to download and print [at our own expense])

Thanks in advance

CQC have an A4 Foolscap book with loads of crossings out and torn out pages with "Rool buk" written on the front in crayon. It is the only book on their bookshelf as the rest are comics and lots of doctors surgery condition old copies of home and garden and heat magazine. The first page is mostly doodles and telephone numbers for the take aways in the area. The SOP's for inspectors is "if you make up a rule, write it in said book, and cross out anything previously that goes against your new rule, but do not show it to the people who eventually answer the phone to the people you take money off. Its nothing to do with them, its secret and we are not allowed to tell. We take money from people, we do not care about quality otherwise all the nursing homes would be good and the hospital wards would be clean!

Doesn't answer the question, but loved the response anyway!

Reminds me of when they contacted me to say there was a mistake in my Registered Manager application. I asked what it was. The response?

Sorry. We are not allowed to tell you.

To my knowledge, if one was previously registered unher Care Act 2000, and had to re-register under Health & Social care act 2008, there was no fee. As I understood it, as Ambulance services were not previously under the attentions of our useless friends, then a charge was levied. They do seem unable or unwilling to help, and we wonder why NAO say they are not fit and proper for purpose....... Care homes etc have told this and no one listened, they could not merge Healthcare commission & CSCI, less staff, less budget and have improved outcomes........ clowns the lot of them!

Hope this helps.
